Here are three great options for tasty bacon appetizers to turn your holiday into a hit.

1. Bacon-Tomato Dip

Dip is always a popular appetizer for parties. It can be used for all sorts of types of potato chips. For a healthier option you can use veggie chips or even just raw vegetables. This Bacon-Tomato Dip recipe is super quick and only has two steps!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  • 4 ounces of cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup of chopped onions
  • 1 tomato, seeds removed and diced up
  • 6 slices of bacon, cooked, drained, and chopped up

Directions:

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together, stir well.
  2. Chill for 2 hours before serving.

That's all there is to this simple but yummy dip!

2. Bacon and Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms

Stuffed mushrooms are another common appetizer choice, but including bacon in the combo could tempt everyone, including those who don't typically like mushrooms. Best of all this recipe only takes 15 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes for the cook time!

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of bacon
  • 8 portabellini (crimini) mushrooms (or mushrooms of your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped onions
  • 3/4 of shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

  1. Cook bacon, drain, dice and then set aside. (You can make the pieces as big or small as you'd like.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  3. Remove mushroom stems and chop them. Set the caps aside for later.
  4. Melt the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add in the diced stems and onions. Cook until the onions are soft. Remove from heat.
  5. In a bowl, mix the mushroom stem mixture, bacon, and 1/2 a cup of the shredded cheese.
  6. Scoop the mixture into each of the mushroom caps.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and serve.

These taste best warm (what doesn't) but can easily be re-heated if necessary. Some people add in more bacon or some sour cream (or cream cheese) to the mixture for added flavor.

3. Cheese and Bacon Potato Rounds

This tasty finger food combines some of the most popular food choices. Most people enjoy potatoes and cheese. Combine those two with bacon and some people will be in heaven!

Ingredients:

  • 4 baking potatoes (sliced into 1/2 inch thick slices)
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • 8 slices of bacon, cooked and then crumbled
  • 8 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of chopped green onions

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Brush both sides of each of the potato slices with the melted butter. Bake until lightly browned on both sides. Be sure to turn over once half way through cooking. This should take approximately 30-40 minutes.
  3. Top with bacon, cheese, and onions. Cook an additional 10 minutes (or until the cheese is melted).

Not sure which of these options is best? Why not give them all a shot. They are all very easy to prepare, making them great choices for the appetizers.
