If you're hosting a Super Bowl party, you may be trying to figure out what to serve, especially if you want to serve Super Bowl themed food. In general, you'll probably want to try to stick to finger foods - no silverware allowed - and things that don't require a table.

Team Colors: If you're doing a party for a particular team, consider theming most or all of your food around that team's colors. For example using last year's teams:

  • Baltimore Ravens, purple, black, gold, and white: grapes and cheddar cheese, plums, eggplant, olives, black rice crackers, red wine, a black and white rice mix, cauliflower, jicama sticks, cream puffs, white chocolate
  • San Francisco 49ers, red and gold: raspberries, strawberries, cherries, watermelon, red velvet cookies and cupcakes, golden delicious apples, red and yellow peppers, lemon cupcakes or pudding

You can also do things like dress up cupcakes with appropriately-colored icing. Hint: run a Google Image Search for "purple food", for example, for lots of ideas.

Stadium or Tailgate Food: You could also feature stadium food at your party. Popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, pizza, loaded potatoes, and if you happen to be an Eagles fan, cheesesteaks  , are all good for parties. If it's fried or cooked on a flat top grill, someone probably serves it in a stadium. Find out if your favorite team has a special stadium food it's known for and include that in your party.

Tailgating food is often similar to stadium food, but is easily brought along or can be made on portable equipment. A quick search will give you plenty of recipes and ideas for tailgating food.

Traditional: Traditional sports party foods include chips and dip, popcorn, beer, cheese and crackers, and anything that comes off the grill.
